VinoVisit Privacy Policy

Information Collected

We collect information that personally identifies you only when you voluntarily provide it to us by registering on our website. We ask for and store your name, mailing address, telephone number and e-mail address.

You can view the website without registering but will not be able to book reservations or take full advantage of the site. If you choose to register, you are opted in by default to receiving communications from us, but you may opt out by unsubscribing using the “my account” feature, which will also allow you to view, correct and update your personal information at any time.

We also collect your credit card and billing information when necessary to book a reservation or make a purchase from our gift shop. Not all reservations require a credit card; each winery determines for itself whether it will require a credit card in order to hold a reservation. If a card is required, we merely authorize the charge and transmit your card and billing information to the winery, which processes payment in accordance with its own policies and practices. When you purchase an item from our gift shop, on the other hand, we process the entire transaction through payment.

We automatically collect anonymous technical information – such as domain name, IP address and session data – every time you log in to our website. We use this information to monitor traffic and improve the website. This information cannot be used to personally identify you.

Our website uses “cookies” – simple text files stored on your web browser -- to distinguish among users and enable certain login features. Our cookies store a randomly generated identifying tag on your device, but do not contain any personal information. Cookies are used as a convenience to you; you can block or delete them and still be able to use the website.

Security and Protection

When you book reservations or make purchases through our website, your information is encrypted using SSL technology before it is transmitted to our server. Data is stored in password-protected limited access servers.

We adhere to payment card industry data security standards (PCI DSS) in collecting, storing, transmitting and processing credit card information, and contractually require that wineries receiving reservations through our website do the same. Federal law limits your liability for fraudulent credit card charges to $50 provided you give your credit card company timely notice of the unauthorized activity.

You play an important role in protecting your privacy. Choose a secure password, change it periodically, and do not share it with anyone. Log off of our website when you are finished using it. And guard against malware by installing and regularly updating robust anti-virus software.

Use and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell or lease your personal information to anyone, or otherwise share your information with anyone, except the wineries where you make reservations and our technical consultants. No one other than us, the wineries and our technical consultants has access to information you provide through our website. We will disclose your information to third parties only when required to do so by law, such as in response to a subpoena or court order; when doing so is incidental to providing you with services or is done with your consent; or when disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our rights or property or prevent an imminent threat to health or safety.

We use the personal information you provide to us for limited purposes:

  • To process reservations and gift shop purchases.
  • To enable you to make multiple reservations without entering the same information more than once.
  • To help you quickly find wineries, events, services and information.
  • To help us create and provide content that is relevant to you.
  • To send you surveys to measure your satisfaction with our services.
  • To send you information about order updates, special offers, product upgrades and other news from VinoVisit.
  • To contact you in case of necessity.

Miscellaneous Advisories

We are responsible for adhering to this privacy policy to the extent we are in possession of your personal information. We cannot protect your information once we have sent it to wineries, and do not assume any responsibility for doing so. Each winery is responsible for its own privacy and security standards and practices, which we encourage you to review if you have any concerns. The wineries are not our partners or agents, and we expressly disclaim any liability for their acts or omissions in handling your personal information, or in any other regard.

Our website is not intended for minors. We encourage you to take reason-able steps to restrict or prevent their access to it and dissuade them from sharing personal information online. Parental control protections (such as computer hardware, software or filtering services) are commercially avail-able that may assist you in limiting access to material that is harmful to minors.

Information may be stored on servers in the United States or abroad. Information provided to us from the European Union may be transferred to the United States, where most of our operations are located. By providing personal information to us, you are consenting to its collection, storage, transmittal and use as described in this privacy policy.

This policy is effective as of September 11, 2015. We reserve the right to amend it from time to time in our sole discretion. Our collection, storage, transmittal and use of information is subject to the privacy policy in effect at the time the information is collected, stored, transmitted or used. If we amend this policy, we will notify you by posting an announcement on our website or sending you an email or letter.

If you believe we have failed to adhere to this policy in any way, please email us at support@vinovisit.com, describing your concern and using the words “privacy policy” in the subject line. We will investigate, respond to you promptly, and do our best to correct any deficiencies.
